USTAD SHAHID PARVEZ KHAN

Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan is undisputedly among the top three sitar maestros in the world today. Hailing from the legendary "Etawa gharana", he is the son of Ustad Aziz Khan, famous musician and noted composer and the grandson of Ustad Wahid Khan, surbahar and sitar grandmaster and uncle to Ustad Vilayat Khan.

Ustad Shahid Khan was introduced by his father to vocal music, tabla and sitar from a very young age, and showed himself to be a child prodigy. He gave his first public performance at the age of 8 and displayed from the start an uncanny combination of vocal and instrumental (gayaki and tantrakari) traditions in his playing. Indeed it is this rare genius for combining romantic intensity with technical brilliance that continues to characterize concerts by Ustad Parvez.

Ustad Parvez is a top-grade artist of All India Radio and has performed in every major Indian music conference and has toured extensively throughout the globe enthralling audiences wherever he goes. He has been selected to represent the nation in Festivals of India in the U.S., U.S.S.R., Europe, Japan and many other venues and has made numerous recordings for top-labels worldwide.
