- The Religious, the Spiritual and the Secular: Auroville and Secular India
- Robert Minor's study of the history of the Indian government's involvement in Auroville grapples with the ambiguities surrounding the terms "religious", "secular" and "spiritual" as understood in modern India, in the west and by the disciples of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. In this review of the book by Debashish Banerji, Minor's thinking on this subject is contextualized within a wider body of contemporary scholarship on Indian "religion" and some of the difficulties of such scholarship are discussed.
